Makkolli (막걸리)

Makkolli is a traditional Korean alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice or wheat. Some Westerners think that it reminds them of the dry white wines of central Italy. Almost every peasant family knows how to brew it, and it is an indispensable drink for the farmers working in the fields. In urban areas there are rice wine breweries, and it is available in almost any tavern, mart and
convenience store.
